About This Class

Cost Per Child: $35

Open Book: Learning to Study Scripture for Yourself Open Book is a semester-long elective for high school students built around the conviction that the Bible was written to be read, understood, and applied. This course will give students tools, one per week, along with guided hands-on practice using each one before moving on to the next. The goal of this class is to equip students to do three things with a text: observe what it says, interpret what it means, and apply what it calls them to do or believe. Each lesson will follow a four-part structure: 1. An explanation of the study tool, where I will introduce it with a short example 2. A model, where I will walk students through using the tool on a sample passage 3. Practice, where students will have the opportunity to apply this tool for themselves 4. A time of debrief, where we will compare our work and discuss what we’ve learned
